Cheats, Tricks and Bugs

As soon as the match begins, if your timing is right, pushing "left" will catch the computer player off guard and score an auotmatic full "power" and generally helps you to beat the computer player faster. Be careful not to foul twice or your game is over!

Conversion

This game was released as a conversion kit for Punch-Out!!.

Game Play

In this game, each time you face a different opponent, push the joystick left to arm-wrestle your opponent. Whenever your opponent starts to act, push the joystick right to counterattack and press the button to increase your power. If you do not counterattack, move the joystick back and forth several times to prevent yourself from being pinned. You must try to pin your opponent before the counter reaches one minute or you will lose.

Opponents:

  1. Texas Mac.
  2. Kabuki - His arm is harder to budge than the first opponent.
  3. Mask X - He will try to ram you with his head and each time he attempts to do so, move the joystick right to avoid him. Before you can pin Mask X, you must unmask him by pulling the joystick up rapidly. Once uncovered, the fighter will turn out to be Bald Bull from the game Punch-Out!! After Mask X has been defeated, the master of ceremonies will throw you a bag of money worth 50,000 bonus points, but you must catch it by pulling up in order to receive the points.
  4. Alice and Ape-III - These opponents must be counterattacked up to three times. Before you can pin Ape-III, you must grab the magnet (worth 10,000 bonus points) in his other hand by pushing the joystick right. You will have two chances to get the magnet, but if you miss twice, you will lose.
  5. Frank Junior - He will occasionally give a signal with his hand and say "Wait!" Before you can pin him, you must move the joystick left to avoid the flames that he will shoot from his mouth. If you beat him, you will have a chance to catch another money bag worth another 50,000 bonus points.
After defeating all the opponents, the game begins again with increased difficulty.

VAPS Arcade Census

GAMES OWNED, WANTED, or FOR SALE BY MEMBERS OF THE VIDEO ARCADE PRESERVATION SOCIETY

Uncommon - There are 7 known instances of Arm Wrestling owned by one of our 3,650 members who participate in our machine census project. Of these, 2 of them are original dedicated machines, and 5 of them are only circuit boards which a collector could put into a generic case if desired.

Of the 59,775 machines (3,517 unique) tracked by the Video Game Preservation Society, this game ranks a 3 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most commonly seen, 1=least common) in popularity based on ownership records.

Wanted - There are 5 VAPS members currently looking for Arm Wrestling. There is one VAPS member looking for a Arm Wrestling circuit board set.

Rarity is NOT necessarily an indication of value. Some common games show up as very rare here because collectors don't want them (they are common because arcade operators might be sitting on tons of them in warehouses), while some fairly scarce games are grabbed by collectors every time they show up. Additionally, some games made in the last 5 years are still making money for operators and are thus not yet affordable to the typical collector. For a clue to value, compare how many people have this game vs. how many people want this game and then click on the eBay links to help determine an accurate price range.
